Im Mittelalter waren kalt getrunkene W\u00fcrzweine beliebt, wie der Hypocras, die in den Gew\u00fcrzzutaten und im Geschmack dem heutigen Gl\u00fchwein vermutlich \u00e4hnlich waren.<\/p>\n<p>Das wohl \u00e4lteste \u00fcberlieferte Gl\u00fchweinrezept Mitteldeutschlands stammt von August Josef Ludwig von Wackerbarth vom 11. Dezember 1843: Pro Kanne (knapp ein Liter) vier Loth (ein Loth entspricht knapp 16 Gramm) Zimt, zwei Loth Ingwer, ein Loth Anis, ein Loth Granatapfel, ein Loth Muskatn\u00fcsse, ein Loth Kardamom sowie ein Gran (heute rund 60 Milligramm) Safran, ges\u00fc\u00dft mit Zucker oder Honig.[2]\n<p>Im Jahr 1845 wurde Gl\u00fchwein wie folgt beschrieben:<\/p>\n<p>\u201eMan setzt \u00bd Flasche guten Rotwein mit 2 oder 3 Gew\u00fcrznelken und etwas Zimt verdeckt aufs Feuer, dann s\u00fc\u00dft man ihn nach Geschmack und l\u00e4\u00dft ihn 2\u20133 Minuten kochen.
